There is no single price for a pergola in Dubai, because every one is made to fit a different space. What you can know in advance is which choices make it cost more or less. This guide walks through them, so the quotations you receive make sense.

1. Size and number of posts

The covered area is the biggest factor. A larger pergola needs longer beams, more roof material and often extra posts to carry the span. Long spans without middle posts need deeper, stronger beams, which cost more than adding a post.

Measure the area you want to cover, and note where you would and would not accept a post. That alone lets a contractor give you a first budget.

2. Roof type

The roof decides both the price and how you can use the space.

  • Slatted roof: fixed aluminium beams with gaps. The lowest cost, gives filtered shade, does not stop rain.
  • Fixed solid roof: aluminium panels or polycarbonate. Full shade and rain cover, mid-range cost.
  • Glass roof: laminated glass on an aluminium frame. Keeps the light, blocks rain, costs more because of the glass.
  • Louvered roof: adjustable aluminium blades. The most flexible and the highest cost, because of the moving parts and seals.

3. Manual or motorised louvres

On a louvered pergola, a motor with a remote adds to the price but makes daily use much easier, especially on large roofs. Rain and wind sensors can close the louvres automatically. If the pergola is small and easy to reach, a manual crank keeps the cost down.

4. Extras

Common extras that add to the quotation:

  • LED strip lighting built into the frame
  • Side screens or zip blinds for privacy, wind and sand
  • Hidden gutters that drain through the posts
  • Glass sliding walls to close the sides
  • Heaters or fans for evening use

5. Fixing and site conditions

A pergola fixed to a garden slab is simpler than one anchored on a rooftop, which needs the slab checked and the anchors sized for stronger wind. Access also matters: a villa garden with a wide gate is quicker to work in than a high floor terrace where parts must go up by lift or crane.

6. Finish and colour

Standard powder-coat colours such as anthracite grey, white and black are usually included. Special RAL colours, wood-effect finishes or marine-grade coatings for beachfront sites can add to the price.

How to get an accurate quotation

Send the contractor the size of the area, a few photos from different angles, the roof type you prefer and any extras you want. A site visit then confirms measurements and fixing points. Ask for an itemised quote so you can see what each option adds, and compare like with like when you look at several companies.

Common questions

Is a louvered pergola worth the extra cost in Dubai?

If you want to use the space all year, usually yes. You can close it for shade and rain in summer and open it for sun in winter. For fixed shade only, a slatted or fixed roof pergola is the better value.

Is aluminium more expensive than wood?

Aluminium can cost more at the start, but it does not rot, warp or need repainting in the UAE climate, so it usually costs less over the life of the pergola.
